Success Recognizes National Occupational Therapy Month
In honor of National Occupational Therapy Month, we are highlighting the work of our two wonderful OTs @ Success Rehabilitation, Heidi Jones and Kelly Cook. Both Heidi and Kelly have a wealth of experience working in the brain injury field focusing their therapies on the entire person, including: cognitive, perceptual, physical, psycho-social, and vestibular limitations.
Heidi has been an OT for twenty-eight years and has been working at Success for twenty years. In a given day, Heidi can work on basic self-care with clients to higher levels of skill training with much focus on muscle re-education related to upper extremity function. When asked how occupational therapy for persons with brain injuries at Success is different from tradition outpatient services, she says that “every day is different and not mundane. Progress and improvement can be witnessed over a longer period of time”.
Kelly has been an OT for thirty-one years and has been working at Success for seventeen years. In her time at Success, Kelly has seen changes in the way therapies are delivered via the use of technology. Technology has assisted with the work on fine motor skills using tools like an iPad. The use of technology has also been able to extend the therapy setting from beyond the four walls of the office with the adoption emails that clients will compose and send in session.
Please join all of us at Success Rehabilitation in recognizing National Occupational Therapy Month and the impact of the work Heidi and Kelly have in our client’s rehabilitation journey!
