What is a concussion?

A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) that occurs when the brain moves rapidly back and forth or is twisted inside the skull, because of a blow to the head or body. You do not have to lose consciousness or “black out” to suffer TBI.  Most individuals with a TBI do not lose consciousness. Instead, they develop worsening symptoms in the days and weeks following their injury. To speed up your relief and recovery, reach out to a TBI specialist right away. Seeking timely medical help is essential to get an accurate diagnosis and prevent further damage. Here are some symptoms that you should be on the lookout for:

  • Sensitivity to light

  • Feeling groggy or sluggish

  • Impaired vision

  • Vomiting or nausea

  • Disorientation or confusion

  • Memory problems

  • Headache

Most adults who sustain a concussion have symptoms that subside within 10-14 days. If your symptoms persist beyond the expected recovery time frame, then multidisciplinary rehabilitation, what we do at Success Rehabilitation, is needed to help you get better.

Workplace Concussion

We understand that workplace injury causes significant pain, suffering, frustration, and loss. These are just a few work-related accidents that might result in TBI:

  • Falling objects

  • Accidents with heavy machinery

  • Auto accidents

  • Falling (including falling from a ladder, down stairs, etc.)
