Building Skills, Confidence, and Independence
Through Vocational Services
At Success Rehabilitation, our Certified Employment Support Professionals guide you step-by-step—from exploring goals and developing skills to achieving meaningful volunteer, school, or employment opportunities in the community.
How It Works:
-
If you are referred to and accepted into the Vocational Program at Success Rehabilitation, Inc. you will be assigned to a Vocational Specialist. This Vocational Specialist (VS) carries a certification as a Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) and is responsible for supporting you in reaching your stated vocational goals in various ways. The VS meets with you initially to survey your interests and vocational goals as you work to target what volunteer, school, or employment you may be interested in pursuing community assessments would be completed prior to goal development. The goal for employment is created by you and supported by the VS and the Clinical Team.
-
Once a vocational placement is achieved, the VS works to change your goals to meet your needs and accompanies you for job training, as needed. If extended or ongoing job coaching is needed for you to be successful in your placement, the VS discusses this with you and vocational job site supervisor and Success’ job coaching will be placed to support you until you can be independent.
-
Once you obtain a vocational placement – volunteering, attending school, or competitive employment – you will work with the VS to coordinate your weekly schedule. You are encouraged to speak directly with your vocational job site supervisor concerning any changes to your weekly schedule and if you need a day off or a change due to another commitment (such as a doctor's appointment or family event) and then asked to relay those changes to the VS so they can coordinate transportation (which Success Rehabilitation, Inc. provides for most of our clients).
-
If you have difficulty with managing your weekly schedule, the VS will support you with this need. Several clients who volunteer have standard schedules which do not change from week to week, but if your schedule needs to change due to another commitment, you are encouraged to communicate this with your job site supervisor but also keep the VS updated so they can inform others within their clinical and residential teams, for continuity of care.
-
Once a vocational goal is set, the VS works with you to determine if skill building, or other items are needed to help you be successful in your vocational pursuits. You may be assigned by your VS to take part in one of two Vocational Groups offered here at Success Rehabilitation to help you receive peer feedback and practice skills in areas such as conversational and interviewing skills. The VS accompanies you to any interviews, supporting you as you may need them to be successful.
